What is a Physician Associate?
As described by by the FPA: “Physician associates are healthcare professionals who work as part of a multidisciplinary team with supervision from a named senior doctor (a General Medical Council registered consultant or general practitioner), providing care to patients in primary, secondary and community care environments.”
Physician Associates undergo a lot of training and play a crucial role within our surgery. Our PAs are closely monitored by our GPs and may leave the room during your consultation to confirm their treatment plan with the Duty Doctor. When requesting an appointment with a GP, you may be offered an appointment with a PA instead as they may be better suited for your specific needs.

What is the difference between a nurse and a nurse practitioner?
While both Nurses and ANPs fulfil similar roles in observing patient care, a major difference between their roles is that an ANP can prescribe treatments, order tests, and diagnose patients. This means, for minor illness or infections you may be booked an appointment with an ANP.

Our Pharmacist Team are an integral part of the general practice to improve value and outcomes for everything related to medication. Their work includes providing extra help to manage long-term conditions, offering advice to those on multiple medicines, giving better access to health checks and, in some cases, treating patients for minor illness or infections. By having clinical pharmacists in our practices it means that GPs can focus their skills where they are most needed, like with diagnosing and treating patients with more complex conditions. This both helps GPs to manage their demands and ensures you are dealt with by a clinician that is specialised in knowing the most about your medication. Each of our pharmacists play a pivotal role to improving the quality of care and ensuring patient safety by completing yearly medication reviews with those on long term medication.
