Midwife
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING MIDWIFE APPOINTMENTS – July 2024
Due to changes at UHCW, midwife appointments have now changed for all members of the practice who live in CV1 to CV6 postcodes/ all patients who pay their council tax to Coventry. As our practice locations cross over between the Coventry and Warwickshire border, we currently offer appointments to those living between CV1 to CV6 postcodes at our main surgery with a midwife that comes from UHCW and for those who live at CV7 postcodes & up/ those who do not pay their council tax to Coventry are are offered appointments at our Bennetts Road North Surgery with a midwife that comes from George Eliot Hospital. This is not a decision the practice makes and it does not affect which hospital you would like to give birth in. Recently, UHCW have changed their internal systems which means the way you book appointments have now changed. For those affected we can no longer book your appointments with the midwife, appointments must be dealt directly with UHCW. You can do this by going to their website here or by coming into our main surgery and scanning the QR code we have at reception. These changes do NOT affect those in CV7 post codes and above who pay council tax to Warwickshire, you can still contact the surgery to book in for your regular midwife appointments.
These changes do not effect the location of your appointments as you will still be seen at either our Bennetts Road South or Bennetts Road North branch respectively. The only change is how you are able to book these appointments. If you have any questions please contact reception by calling or e-consultation for further advice.
First Childhood Immunisations and 6 Week Baby Checks
Once you have given birth you must register the child with the practice, you can do this online by clicking here. A member of our administrative team will then make contact to arrange your 6 week post natal check as well a separate appointment for both the 6 week baby check and first childhood immunisations. If you have not been contacted by 5 weeks after giving birth please contact the surgery.
For information on when your child is due their vaccines please visit:

Phlebotomy
We offer blood clinic’s all throughout the week, at all three of our surgeries. The majority of our blood test appointments take place before 12pm. We do offer a smaller clinic in the afternoon typically between 12pm – 4pm, depending on availability. If you are unable to make these times or are under 16 years of age, please visit Swift Queue to search local clinics in your area and collect the blood form from the surgery prior to your appointment.
You must have already have spoken with a clinician to obtain a blood test form prior to booking in for a blood test appointment.
Please allow at least 5 days for your results. Your GP will only contact a patient in the case of urgent test results, for all other results you must contact the surgery by calling or using the e-consultation service. While we make every effort to contact patients regarding test results that have come back requiring a non-urgent/ routine telephone call, due to the sheer volume of patients we have this is not always possible.
Family Planning (Coils and Implant Fitting only)

Covid Information
If you contract covid-19 you should stay home and avoid contact with other people. You do not need to contact the GP if you are positive as most healthy people will recover at home and will able to manage the symptoms with over the counter medication. However if you are worried about your or a child’s COVID-19 symptoms/ feel that it is getting worse, have other signs of illness (eg rash, loss of appetite, or feeling weak), have a high temperature that last 5 days or more or does not come down with paracetamol, please call the surgery. If we are unable to offer you an appointment due to availability please call 111 or 999 in an emergency.
